Production Editor REQ#4766

Full Time at The Villages Media Management

The Villages Daily Sun, America's fastest growing daily newspaper, is seeking a seasoned copyeditor with a passion for community journalism.

Candidates must possess strong news judgment and familiarity with a wide variety of subject matter. Advanced communication skills and the ability to make sound decisions under deadline pressure are a must. Mastery of grammar, spelling and Associated Press style are required, as is a bachelor's degree or equivalent and two years of experience with a daily publication.

What you need to know about us: The Daily Sun (circulation nearly 60,000 and climbing) is defying national trends of declining circulation numbers and downsizing staff. We’re a community-first newsroom, not a digital-first newsroom. This means that we place high value on hyper-local content that is reported and edited at the local level, for a rapidly expanding print product. This is a terrific opportunity to focus on journalistic quality without the distraction of compiling elements for a digital workflow.

The Daily Sun is part of a media group that also produces a daily television newscast, operates a radio station and produces a monthly lifestyles magazine and a portfolio of other niche products.

We’re a 90-mile drive to the beach, Orlando’s theme parks and the historic neighborhoods of Gainesville and St. Augustine. We offer competitive pay, excellent benefits and access to a highly regarded school system in one of the state's most idyllic settings.
